The Bible a lover's plea?

A couple of weeks ago in youth group we were discussing the teen version of "A case for Christ" when I had a revelation from God! We were asked why different books of the Bible have different descriptions of the same story; some seemingly leaving things out. My response was this: "They were different people and therefore had different perspectives, one felt it important to stress one event
while another a different event." Then another question was
asked: " What about in the case of contradictions?" (some
examples below)
Matthew: A high powered commander comes to Jesus....
Luke: A high powered commander's servants come to Jesus..

This is when I realized that those passages which seem to contradict like the above are actually filled with literary devices. In this case synecdoche. (or a part standing for the whole) How? Because those people who were sent to Jesus stood for the man himself (remember he was a powerful man) and that is why in Matthew it is simply described as " A man". We see repeats of metaphors and paradox throughout scripture reminding us that the Bible really is God's love letter to us. I mean, a lover would obviously would write poetry to the person he (or she) loves. This is God's way of doing just that! It is more obvious in places like Psalms but we also see it throughout. Especially with metaphors: "Ye are the salt of the earth" (etc.) making it even more plain that there really is nothing new under the sun!
